In summary, the project team developed the "JiMing" Smart Ecological Toilet, which features a biodegradation container with specially selected and treated sawdust as a substrate (microorganisms live in the substrate and degrade fecal waste). It includes heating and constant temperature devices (microorganisms require a set constant temperature for survival and waste degradation, allowing them to thrive in optimal conditions for self-reproduction and culturing offspring). An automatic stirring device (which periodically stirs the substrate mechanically, evenly mixing fecal waste, microorganisms, and the substrate; stirring also generates oxygen required by microorganisms and uniformly distributes the temperature around the substrate, meeting the conditions for microbial survival and reproduction) is also incorporated.
Controlled by a PLC central control system, microbial strains degrade fecal waste in approximately 8 hours under specific airflow, temperature, humidity, and pH conditions, achieving a degradation rate of about 99%. The remaining 1% is converted into green fertilizer, which remains as a substrate within the biodegradation container. These aspects have not been reported in relevant public publications, demonstrating novelty and good market application prospects.

Upon analysis, the overall technology of this project has reached a domestically leading and internationally advanced level.
Biological Harmless Treatment of Wet Waste
18-hour Degradation, 96% Degradation Rate, Zero Emissions
After kitchen waste is fed into the crushing system, it enters the "JiMing" Smart Kitchen Waste Treatment Equipment for microbial degradation treatment. No oil-water separation equipment or wet waste extrusion equipment is required. The processor contains a biological substrate (wood chips) and is equipped with an automatic timed stirring device, which regularly stirs the wet waste with the substrate. Stirring ensures that the wet waste and substrate are uniformly mixed, facilitating microbial degradation of the wet waste. Timed stirring also generates oxygen, allowing microorganisms to degrade wet waste more effectively and quickly, and to reproduce faster and better on their own.
Microorganisms degrade organic waste in approximately 18 hours. There are no residues, waste oil, wastewater, or exhaust gases discharged before or after treatment (zero emissions). The degradation rate is as high as approximately 96%, with the remaining approximately 4% serving as biological substrate, which continues to be recycled and processed on-site.

Using this equipment indeed eliminates the need for sewage pipelines, wet waste oil-water separation equipment, and wet waste compaction equipment (it does not require compressing water out of wet waste for separate treatment).
This equipment has no heating device, and wet waste does not require heating during treatment (including winter). On average, it only consumes about 20 kWh of electricity per day (approximately 20 RMB in electricity fees per day) and uses only about 20 kilograms of water per day for cleaning during wet waste treatment, significantly conserving water resources.

In March 2015, Shaanxi Taibai Mountain National Forest Park purchased 2 sets of "JiMing" Smart Wet Waste Treatment Systems from Shanghai Jiming Biotechnology Co., Ltd. (formerly Shanghai Jiming Environmental Protection Equipment Technology Co., Ltd.), which were installed in two scenic areas on the summit of Taibai Mountain.
After more than 8 years of use, the "JiMing" Smart Wet Waste Treatment System has proven to effectively degrade fruit and vegetable peels and leftover food within 8 hours through biological treatment inside the equipment. During the treatment process, no waste oil, wastewater, or residue is discharged from the wet waste treatment system, resulting in zero emissions and being odor-free.
Throughout more than 8 years of operation, there has never been any need for cleaning or transporting wet waste wastewater, waste oil, or residue.

Pollution-Free Environmental Treatment
During the JiMing microbial experimental treatment phase for sludge and leachate (48 days), 2 kg of sludge, 1 kg of leachate, and 3 cleaned napkins were added daily around 2 PM. The temperature was maintained at approximately 33 degrees Celsius.
In Stage 2, the microbes degraded approximately 20% more sludge and leachate than in Stage 1 (88% - 68.3% = 20%). This was because in Stage 1, the microbes were not yet fully adapted to treating sludge and leachate, resulting in a degradation rate of 68.3%.
After the 20-day adaptation period in Stage 1, the JiMing microbes rapidly multiplied, cultured, and strengthened, enabling them to quickly degrade sludge, leachate, and napkins. In Stage 2, the JiMing microbes achieved an 88% degradation rate for sludge and leachate.

Note: JiMing Company took 4 kg of sludge and leachate residue for use as green fertilizer (from May 2nd to June 30th, 58 days later). The plants not only did not die but grew luxuriantly and produced fragrant flowers. If the 12% residual material after pollution-free environmental treatment of sludge and leachate can be used as green fertilizer, then it is possible to achieve a zero-discharge treatment for sludge and leachate, which is pollution-free, has minimal odor, and produces no residue. This would solve the challenging problem of sludge and leachate treatment for every country, benefiting humanity.
The biological harmless degradation rate for sludge and leachate reached 88%, and the organic substrate converted after degradation can be safely used as green fertilizer.
